Buffalo Snow Myth Exposed

The Carbon Arc Projection Fund
Carbon Arc Projection Fund
The Carbon Arc Projection Fund

A charitable fund intended to support Carbon Arc Projection in the 21st Century
and especially equipment in Western New York
including projectors at:
The North Park Theater
The Riviera Theater
Shea's Buffalo Theater

Goals

1. Purchase carbon rods for use in carbon arc projection lamp houses. These specially manufactured rods can cost nearly $2,000.00 a year per theatre.

2. Maintain the mechanisms of the special 35mm projectors.

3. Contribute to the costs of trained projectionists.

4. Support an internship program to train new projectionists in the skills needed to operate this important and historic projectors.

What is CARBON ARC?

Electricity is run through two copper sheathed rods made of pure carbon, a positive and negative.

The electricity "arcs" between the positive and negative carbon producing an extremely bright, pure white ball of "flame."

This Pure White Light is used to project the motion picture image onto the screen. It is full-spectrum white light.

Modern projectors use a special Xenon light bulb. Xenon is NOT pure white: it is yellowish and does not make movies look as beautiful as they are meant to be.

Carbon Arc projectors require more maintainence and skill to run than other modern projectors, but the effort is worth it!

This fund helps to purchase the carbon rods (which can cost several thousand dollars a year) and to keep the projectors in good running order.

Please be generous in your support!
