The Gulf Between - 1918 - Technicolor Premiere, Buffalo, NY
The Gulf Between was made in 1917, but not premiered until February 25, 1918 at The Majestic Theater in Buffalo, New York, United States.
It is the first full-length Technicolor feature produced in the USA. The film, shot in Florida, used the Technicolor System 1 - Additive Color method which was very difficult to project and only lasted from 1917-1922. It was replaced, after many years, by the 3-strip Technicolor system, the most famous and beautiful color ever produced on the motion picture screen.
This is a lost film, only a few frames survived over the years.
We are seeking information about the premiere of this film in Buffalo at the Majestic Theater between February 25 - March 2, 1918. It is believed that the system was tested there for the very first time in a Premier theatrical presentation before moving on to New York City.
