The Buffalo "Snow Myth"
The Myth about Snow in Buffalo, NY, USA
Believe it or not: Buffalo is not under 50 feet of snow 12 months a year!
You CAN come to Western New York and have a GREAT TIME!

A more complete version of this information plus an essay by Ms. Cynthia Van Ness appears at:

http://www.buffaloresearch.com/snow.html

We would like to acknowledge her "pioneering" work in calling attention to the pernicious myth about snow in the City of Buffalo.

Our purpose is to spread accurate information about Buffalo, New York, United States all over the world so that savvy travelers will come to visit and see what a great time they've been missing!

A Few comments.

  • Buffalo is NOT Antarctica. The infamous Blizzard of 1977  crippled the entire Northeastern US and much of Ontario, Canada, but for some reason (was it Johnny Carson and some newspapers?) Buffalo was singled out.  And it is not in the Top Ten Storms of the Century.

  • There are LOTS of places to go SKIING in Buffalo, especially CROSS-COUNTRY Skiing. Cheaper than Aspen.

  • Quoting Cynthia Van Ness:  "There is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothing."
