Buffalo Film Festival provides 4.5 Million Ads for Western New York in 2008: Google Grant used to promote Buffalo Region in 124 Countries
Buffalo, NY, United States Using its Google Grant, The Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF) launched an international advertising campaign to promote the Motion Picture accomplishments and opportunities of Buffalo and the eight-county Western New York region around the world.
Since October 2008, BIFF has displayed more than 4.5 million individual advertisements in connection with targeted Google searches. Each and every one mentions Buffalo, NY. On average, this is between 45,000 - 70,000 ads each day. That's over 2,000 ads an hour, 35 a minute or one ad every 2 seconds!
"The economic and cultural success of Buffalo and the Western New York Region depends upon warm and open communication with other countries who can appreciate the wonderful capabilities and qualities of the skilled workers and residents of this unique area," said Edward Summer, President of Buffalo International Film Festival, Inc., "especially in their past and present contributions to worldwide Media Production and History. As BIFF has demonstrated, Buffalo is, after all, the birthplace of the modern Movie Theater as well as the site, in 1896, of some of Thomas Edison's earliest American movies."
These ads are organized in 17 campaigns highlighting Buffalo Motion Picture History, Job Opportunities in Western New York through the WNY Motion Picture, Television and Video Professional Registry, The Buffalo Movie Tour, the year-round screening programs of The Buffalo Film Society, and BIFF's spectacular special movie events (like the upcoming Mickey Mouse Movie Masterpieces: A Walt Disney Festival on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Shea's Buffalo Theatre).
"The Buffalo Film Festival is organized as a marketing tool for organizations and businesses in Western New York. We are pleased to explore opportunities for beneficial cooperation with anyone in the community," Summer continued. "Already we are working with several dozen not-for-profits on shared programming, and welcome others."
Using Google's proven and highly successful algorithms, the ads are displayed in direct response to reader interest, so are extremely effective as compared to normal internet advertising.
The Western New York Motion Picture Job Opportunities campaign alone generated more than 600,000 ads in less than 3 months and has sparked interest from all over the world.
The exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime April 4, 2009 BIFF Mickey Mouse/Disney Event has generated a staggering response world-wide. The list of top 10 countries responding to the event and receiving a total of almost 2 million Google Ads is surprising:
India
United States
United Kingdom
Pakistan
Malaysia
Romania
Canada
Sri Lanka
Singapore
Serbia
And the 15 leading cities (which includes local residents of Buffalo, NY just after London) are:
New Delhi
Chennai
Bangalore
Kandivli
Hyderabad
Puna
Kuala Lumpur
Singapore
Mumbai
London
Buffalo (NY)
Ahmenabad
Delhi
Calcutta
Lenore
All of these countries and cities are potential sources for WNY jobs and tourism to the Buffalo-Niagara region. There is already serious interest from Bangalore about organizing a tour to Buffalo to see the April 4 Walt Disney Festival.
Advertisers, Supporters, and Corporate Sponsors of the Buffalo International Film Festival receive the benefit of this extraordinary international exposure. In 2008 these included Shea's Performing Arts Center, Villa Maria College, The Walt Disney Company, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, the Hero Initiative, Popular Science Magazine, and Mid-State Bakery Distributors among others.
BIFF's not-for-profit activities include: The Buffalo Film Festival, The Buffalo Film Society, The Buffalo Movie Tour, The New York State Movie Theater Corridor, How Science Works: The Film and Video Competition, The Buffalo Walk of Fame, and The Digital Nitrate Prize. BIFF's advisory board includes prominent, award-winning members of the Motion Picture, Television, Cultural, Scientific and Educational communities who have won Academy Awards, Emmys, Peabody Awards and even the Nobel Prize!
Founded in 2004, Buffalo International Film Festival, Inc. is a 501c3 not-for-profit charity that depends upon public and private support for its activities. All donations are fully tax-deductible in accordance with applicable regulations.
